Senior Adult Ministry

Wisdom is with the aged,
And with long life comes understanding.

Job 12:12,

Ministry to Senior Adults is a very diverse ministry. Senior Adult ministries is usually defined at those 55 and over. But age is not the major criteria; need is the criteria. Some Seniors need a listening ear. Some Seniors need activities and information appropriate for the seniors.  Still others need to gather with others.  But most of all, Seniors need to know they are important, and they have purpose in their life. We try to address all these needs in our planned programs. But the heart of our Senior Adult Ministries is God.  He is the one who died for us to show us how important we are to him. He personally removed all the barriers between God and us.

Monthly Senior Adult Luncheon is on the first Thursday of every month. Contact the church office for schedule.

Contact Hank Demous, Minister to Senior Adults for more information at Hank.Demous@southmont.org or 940-240-3130.

Children’s Day Out

Southmont Baptist Church Children’s Day Out Preschool

is a Bible-based program.  Our caring, Christian teachers use the Gospel Project curriculum as a guide to plan weekly classroom activities that will meet the specific needs and interests of each child.  Weekly themes provide children with the opportunity to learn about God’s world and how to live in it, as well as help children begin to understand about God, Jesus, the Bible, church, self, family, others, and the natural world.

Our Goal

We provide a positive environment where all children may learn self-help skills, independence, social skills, language/communication skills, writing/fine motor skills, pre-literacy skills, math/science skills, and classroom conduct. The Gospel Project curriculum is used for all ages to continue to introduce children to God’s world. We also strive to prepare our older children for the kindergarten environment by using our Kindergarten Readiness Assessment.

Children participate in the following activities:
  • Learning Centers/Free Play
  • Music & Movement
  • AM Snack
  • Music, Letters, Numbers
  • Lunch
  • Crafts
  • Chapel & Bible Stories
  • Large Motor Play
  • Discovery Lab
We believe that children are active learners.  Through play, a child can:
  • learn about the world around them;
  • learn to deal with their emotions and how to resolve conflicts
  • observe and interact with other children, as well as adults.

Children's Sunday School

Children's Ministry Vision Statement

We believe that children are a gift from God (Ps. 127:3); that Scripture assigns to parents the privilege and responsibility of discipling their children (Deut. 6:4-9, Eph. 6:4) and that it is the church’s responsibility to equip parents to build a solid spiritual foundation in their children’s lives (Eph. 4:11-12). To accomplish these God-given tasks, we are committed to a Children’s Ministry in which children of all abilities:

  • Grow to their full potential in Christ through knowing God and understanding His Word so they can respond in faith to personal relationship with Jesus.
  • Feel safe and experience the love of God modeled through caring volunteers.
  • Learn to worship God through music, prayer, Bible study and service.
  • Discover and develop their gifts and talents, thereby growing a heart of service for others.

Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he grows older he will not abandon it.

Proverbs 22:6,

Men’s Ministry

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17,

The men’s ministry at Southmont offers men the opportunity to sharpen their lives through guidance, strength, and encouragement from one another.

The purpose of the men’s ministry is to glorify God by doing His will, encouraging one another, and reaching others through worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry. Every man is encouraged to become the man God desires him to be by praying, obeying, growing in His word, sharing His love, and serving others.

Opportunities in the men’s ministry include monthly fellowship breakfasts, small group Bible studies, retreats, fellowship outings, outreach efforts, mentoring, discipleship, and intercessory prayer.
